    Definitely not as good as the first. Presentation and construction of the dishes was a little lack luster compared to the first time dining here. After spending $120 for one person, a good amount of food, and dessert I feel like this place no longer a great meal adjusted for the price. It's still good but not worth the journey to be on the edge of the tenderloin.

    Came here for a birthday and requested a seat by the window - really great ambience and view! For the price I'd say this is a real treat! Dishes were fun -- not always the most exciting flavor profile wise (as someone who grew up in Asia) but done nicely and well worth the price+ambiance to celebrate an occasion. Great service, overall would come back for another celebration and vibe.

    My family hosted our rehearsal dinner at Lilholiho Yacht Club in their downstairs area, called "the Gen Gen Room." It's a private space that fits about 20 people and it was such a vibe for our group. There's a gorgeous bar and seating area in addition to the dining table. It was a perfect location for our group. Everything was beyond amazing. The service was fantastic, and our private bartender was so accommodating and friendly. The drinks were delicious and don't get me started on the food! It was SO good, I can't describe it properly, but I'll try. We had a pre-fixe menu for about 18 people. A few of us had dietary needs (vegetarian, Halal, allergies, etc) and we all were taken care of. The tuna poke on the seaweed crisp was delicious and one of my favorite appetizers of the night. And my gosh, the swordfish katsu is so unique and out of this world tasty! All our guests loved the entire menu. The team even allowed us to customize our menu to make it a more personalized experience. Thank you so much to the team at Lilholiho!

    I finally made it to Liholiho Yacht Club, which has long been on my SF restaurant bucket list! I was really excited about the creative Hawaiian-inspired menu, and I'll admit that I was most looking forward to trying the Baked Hawaii. We were able to somehow get a weekday reservation a few days in advance, but I hear this is very rare. Our table was right next to the open kitchen, and it was really neat to watch the chefs preparing our food throughout the meal. For drinks, I ordered the Below the Salt with yuzu and shiso - sweet with a hint of savory. The cocktail started out delicious, but the ice melted fast, diluting the flavor a bit too quickly. Our meal started off strong with the red endive salad with black sesame dressing and coco-seed brittle, followed by the grilled summer squash with avocado - the "furikake crunch" added a satisfying texture and saltiness that was quite addicting. I also tried a bite of the duck liver mousse with some prompting from my colleague; while the pairing of the liver mousse with banana bread and strawberries was intriguing, I couldn't make up my mind whether I liked it or not. We ordered four main courses to share. The fried chicken was nice and crispy but slightly dry, although the honey cornbread that accompanied it was absolutely delicious. The wagyu steak was perfectly cooked, and I couldn't get enough of the tangy, charred sweet peppers that were served with the steak. The kimchi fried rice was solid, and the rendang curry had good flavor but could have used more veggies. Dessert was the highlight for me. We ordered all four desserts on the menu: the strawberry galette, golden milk panna cotta, butter mochi, and Baked Hawaii. For me, the baked Hawaii was the standout. A twist on the classic, it was filled with coconut POG sorbet, served atop orange chiffon cake, and garnished with fresh grapefruit. It was the perfect balance of tangy, sweet, and refreshing. Plus, it was very photogenic. Oddly, I was the only one at my table who loved it. (Others found it to be too sweet.) The other desserts were good, but none left quite the same impression on me. We also tried two teas - marshmallow and soba - which were delicate, earthy, and definitely worth ordering for the table. Our server was attentive and helped us navigate the menu to accommodate our group's many food allergies. I'd love to come back and try some of the seafood dishes and maybe keep the Baked Hawaii all to myself next time. ;)
